I believe that this beach park is a good place to study because it has a lot of different species, which means there are a lot of different niches to observe. The beach park is easy to access and has very little people there. The beach park is quiet and calm, so it's very easy to focus and do work there. The wall goes right up to the water, so it is very easy to observe what is going on inside the water without actually going in the water. There are lots of fish swimming around, lots of crabs, and lots of birds roaming the beach park.
Observations:
-Low tide
-Birds chirping
-Little fish swimming
-Some large fish (around 4 inches)
-Small surf further out
-Uprooted coconut tree
-birds walking around by edge of water
-lots of large rocks scattered
-little canal to left
-fisherman in water (walking)
-lots of big dead fish in water
-surfers
-tide coming in
Inferences:
-Lots of little fish, probably a good breeding area
-birds walking by edge of water, probably preying on the little fish
-uprooted coconut tree, probably lots of erosion
-lots of surfers, must have good surf
-Bigger fish might have gotten trapped by the lowering tides and died
Niche:
Smaller fish:
-feeding on algae and some dead fish
-gets eaten by birds and larger fish
-lives in shallow/protected areas
-like shade
Birds:
-Feed on smaller fish
-live al over the place
-eaten by rats and mongooses
Crabs:
-feed on fish, other dead things
-get eaten by larger fish
-live in holes in the ground or cracks in walls
-afraid of humans
